Et deux...

Today was one of those days to remind me of why sports is aggrevating and unfair, as the better player lost to his tiredness, from winning a title on Saturday.  And stupid Murray was able to come back from two sets down to beat Gasquet (you remember him, from failed a drugs test for cocaine and blamed it on kissing a girl called Pamela) despite not playing as well and muttering to himself in that moody/crazy manner of his. I also blame him for the fact that I wasted four hours today doing very little.
Bah
Elena Baltacha also lost (to the 8th seed), didnt see it though as we were in Murray central, apparently she put up quite the old fighteroo in the second set but still lost 6-0, 7-5.  And Katie O'brien is our remaining women in the draw, and she plays tomorrow.  So does Dinara Safina- ontvontvontvontv- must be?
Jelana Jankovic played today and won, but the 'live stream' had ended before her match started...of course if she's not Andy Murray then shes no good for TV.  Andy Roddick and Nadal on tomorrow, I think Nadal will monopolise the media coverage but I also think his match will be nice and quick (well not nice for his opponent but I dont even know his name so I dont care, Ill wait until tomorrow to humanise him).

Another piece of French Open news is that they are thinking of moving from Roland Garros in Paris so they can expand- they only have 20 acres now poor babies (ok US Open has 35, and Wimby and Oz has 50 apparently).  John LLoyd says you have to move on, or change or something...which seems like a weak reason for a 600 million Euro project...

Roll on the morrow...

C'est Paris, n'est pas?

There is the entirety of five years of french for you... and theres some stuff about my pencil case but never mind that.

It's the French Open for the next two weeks:
Day One gone:
Anne Keothothongs out already, she went down 6-2 6-2 which is four games better than last year so way to go Anne, Elena Balacha and Andy Murray on court tomorrow, and Katie O'briens in the mix too.
Last years winner Svetlana Kusnetzova won in rubbish style, last years finalist Robin Soderling also won in much better style. The hottest Latvian around Ernest Gulbis (apparently his father is one of the richest men in Latvia and Ernest has serious playboy potential) is out, and Venus Williams beat Patty Schnyder. Shame I like Patty's hair, and game.

Probably the most shocking thing so far...
Venus Williams outfit- actually not that shocking since her and Serena have past form in wearing inappropriate evening wear to tennis matches, when I say inappropriate I mean it would be wrong in every context, apart from possible a cocktail party thrown by a corrupt police chief who's being paid in brown envelopes by a drugs cartel...and its from a world only bad tv could create...
Observe:

Also I have this thing about people wear black in scorching temperatures, but Im not sure making this dress white would make it look less like lingerie?
Skin coloured shorts for added effect.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing Dinara Safina and Jelena Jankovic- Safina not til Tuesday, but Janko is tomorrow me thinks.  All fingers crossed for a televised court...

Tennis Round up

Andy Murray continues to be pathetic this season, after losing to Frederer in Ozzie Open hes just been losing everything.  Betting scam Id say.  Or hes just a bit tired.  But he just lost 6-2 6-1 to Kohlschrieber whos a german guy, anyway they showed that picture of him looking miserable that they always show when he loses (whether its a new picture or stock I couldnt say, he always looks like that).

And his ranking will go down, and everyone's very concerned about this.  I'm trying to care just to write this blog, but its just not happening.

Martina Navratilova has breast cancer, which I feel has more capacity to evoke emotion.  But then she said it was 'her 9/11', which made her seem bonkers in my eyes.  But she says shell beat it- and damn it I believe her.

And the LTA have replaced John Loyd (finally) with some guy no ones heard of.  Leon Smith who used to work with Andy Murray, which may at one time have meant something but as mentioned above hes sucking ass ATM.   Murray still says he wont be persuaded to play Davis Cup even though his friend is the new boss, and Jamie Murray who continues to show sexiness despite media naivety- he twittered
"Do you honestly think this will make him play?! So transparent."
Which I think is an odd thing to twitter, but he gets his point across.  Many rumours abound that thats the reason they picked Smith who has never played Davis Cup, or coached at top level, or even seen a tennis match before...ok I made up that last one...
As long as he re-picks J Murray Im fine, as long as he also takes his phone and interent access to break this terrible T addiction.

In other news, tennis player Sania Mirza married her boyf of three months (she was engaged to someone else until January), she married Pakistani Cricket guy Shoaib Malik.  Malik, it emerged, was already married to another women, who now was causing a bit of a stink.  They apparently met online and married over the phone, he was shown pictures of her which turned out to be of someone else, and says he was tricked into the marriage.  But its ok because theyre divorced now, and Mirza and Malik are married.
Things happen differently in Asia, no?

So Long Lloydy

I can't say I ever thought Lloydy is a great nickname.  Too many Ls, too many Ys.
Od.  That's what's left, that's what it is.

Well anyway the Davis Cup captain of the past 4years (3 wins, 5 losses) has resigned.  And while it may be 5 ties too late, as least he had the good grace to go (I'm thinking of you McClaren), although it is days after he asked for LTA chief Draper to be kicked out.   Jamie Baker, who is Scottish as he has not won anything, was supposed to lose with the rest of them in the recent Tie against Lithuania, but hurt his ankle, does not want Draper to go. He thinks the investments of the LTA needs times to bear fruit and (I quote):
"I'm worried we could lose out in another, far more significant, contest: the blame game." This is now my fave quote, although I'm suspicous and think someone must have written it for him.

Well Andy Murray wants some say in it (that would be a say in the running of the tournament that he wont play anymore because they've dropped too low and he's too good for it 'No One-whine-Tells Federer-sulk- To Play').
Tim Henman has ruled himself out (did anyone care/ask/care?)
Mark Petchy (Murray Jnr former coach, who said Murray dropped after he got all famous, he split with his next coach through his agent, clearly a man who should be allowed a say ) wont work with Draper under the current regime- no I have no idea which regime that is? Could the LTA be espousing the values of Stalinist Russia? Apparently Petchy thinks Draper has spend tonnes/tons of money (in the squillions) and achieved nothing, let us please continue to measure our worth as people based on our performance in the Tennis Davis Cup.
Greg Rusedski- who is the Talent and Performance Director at the LTA (raise eyebrows) is in line for job, which may be why Murrat wants some say in it? Rusedski BTW retired from Tennis, then wanted to return a few years later but wasn't let in the team by Lloydy.

Anywa, not that anyone's asked but- I would totally be up for the job.  If the hours were right...

Murray, Davis, Baltachea, stuff...

Jamie Murray has a new ATP pic, finally since he looked about 12 in the old one (not 12, about 18 but you know 18 yr old guys look 12 quite often).  It is quite sexy, black and white, all arty like a french film...

The other Murray is asking that the players get a say in the new coach for Davis Cup- showing so much loyalty since John Lloyd hasnt actually been fired.  Lloyd wants Draper (head of the Lawn Tennis Association to be chopped).  Why? Because the Davis Cup lost (5th time in a row which doesnt look good for Captain Lloyd, although why 5 in a row is bad but 4 in a row is ok is odd, Ive been saying axe Lloydy for ages and no one listen to me...almost like I'm not an important part of the British Tennis world?  Can you have a British Tennis World Iw wonder?).  Apparently they were humiliated, I dont get that since they lost in 5 matches and a couple went to best of 5 so its not like they rolled over.  I think it was more arrogance in thinking that we're British we should beat rubbishy Lithuania.  Now we face Moldova which everyone thinks is funny cos there was a book about a guy who played the Moldova Davis Cup team as a joke and it was really hard (my dad told me about it, tennis people are so old ).  People in these teams take DC really seriously and are inspired by it, in Britain it's become a squabbling point- people always asking whos to blame for its failure before theyve even failed (although to be fair they do seem to fail a lot).  Sigh. Why can't they be like the ladies?

Elana Baltachea won in the first round of Indian Wells which is a good result, shes now the British number one at number 64 in the world.  Poor Anne Keothathong still outside the top 100 (at 123) after missing 6months with a knee thing.   She lost her match, I think she can get back to her peak (48) but shes a few years older than most players when they are working their way up- about 25.  Which makes her one of the few players actually older than me.  Maria Sharapova for example is two weeks younger than me, she won a grand slam when she was 17...I did some exams...

Anyway Tennis is rather slow this time of the year, it must be as the BBC Tennis top story is Andy Murray says something about Davis Cup, and stars sign up for Eastbourne tournament (which is in June).  Im sure some good tennis is taking place somewhere in the world.  Its how I sleep at night. You?
